Marlin Swim School

About Marlin Swim School

Marlin Swim School is a family owned and operated business that opened for business in January 1994. Founders, Mario and Sue Ortisi built Marlin Swim School as they wanted to promote swimming in the local area and motivate parents to enrol their children in learn to swim programs. In 2011, Mario and Sue’s daughter, Julia became the owner and manager of Marlin Swim School, taking over her family’s business. In January 2017 the Swim School was purchased by Boccabella & Smith P/L who with some improvements are continuing along the same lines as the previous owners – with the philosophy, why change what has been a very successful business for many years.

When Marlin Swim School first opened to the public, we ran classes one night a week, had 30 enrolled students and Mario was the sole teacher, whilst Sue managed the reception. Today, we operate 6 days per week, run over 160 classes, have well over 500 students enrolled and employ approximately 15 instructors.

From these humble beginnings, Marlin Swim School has grown to become one of the leading swim schools in the Hume municipality and attracts students from Craigieburn, Greenvale, Roxburgh Park, Broadmeadows, Glenroy, Pascoe Vale,  Airport West, Tullamarine, Gladstone Park, Westmeadows and Bulla.

Over the years, our past students have returned to become qualified Austswim teachers, some of whom are currently employed as instructors with us. We have also had some of our past instructors return, enrolling their children in our learn-to-swim program.

A decade on and our aim is still to teach water awareness to children and adults throughout our community. We offer a variety of classes for students from 6 months of age, through to adults, and cater to a range of abilities and learning needs.
